Registration slip / certificate
Two documents from the same register, not interchangeable — ask for the one your procedure names.
The volante is informative and usually issued on the spot. It is enough for most everyday procedures: school enrolment, healthcare, municipal services.
The certificado is signed and sealed and carries full legal force. Procedures that need real proof of residence — a nationality application, for instance — name it specifically.
Asking for the wrong one costs you a return visit. Requesting a certificado where a volante would do costs a wait; the reverse costs a rejected file.
