Spanish rent and rental-fraud data, free to read and cite
Flat Spain runs these datasets to power its own product, and publishes them because the numbers people need when they move to Spain are otherwise answered from anecdote. Each file states how it was measured and what sample it needs before a slice is published at all. Credit Flat Spain and link the source page.
Flat Spain Rent Benchmark (per-barrio asking rents)
Per-barrio asking-rent baselines for 11 Spanish cities: a curated representative rent and €/m² for a furnished one-bedroom in each expat barrio, published beside the live median asking rent observed in Flat Spain's own harvested listing inventory. The two columns answer different questions — what a barrio should cost, and what is being asked in it this week — and are kept separate rather than blended.

- 11 cities, four expat barrios each. Curated values last reviewed 2026-07-20; observed medians are live.
- Minimum sample
- An observed median is withheld below 25 live listings; the column is left empty rather than computed off a handful of ads.
Method. Curated figures are researched and reviewed by hand against portal asking prices and INE/idealista reference data. Observed figures are the median asking rent of live listings held in the Flat Spain inventory for that barrio at the time of the request.
Flat Spain Rental Scam Index
The share of screened Spanish rental listings carrying at least one fraud-type flag from the Flat Spain 16-Point Scam Screen, broken down by city and by source portal, for listings screened within a stated calendar month. Monthly snapshots are frozen once published, so a period's figure does not move after the fact.

- Monthly, by city and by source portal, for slices clearing the minimum sample.
- Minimum sample
- A city or portal slice is published only once it clears 120 screened listings in the period. Thinner slices are omitted, never thinned.
Method. Every listing Flat Spain returns passes the Flat Spain 16-Point Scam Screen: sixteen deterministic checks covering price deviation against the barrio benchmark, "landlord currently abroad" claims, deposit-before-viewing requests, Wise/Revolut/crypto payment demands, missing exact addresses and misused temporada contracts. A flag is a reason to check a listing, not proof of fraud.
